Grosvenor Dog Swim
1 Grenfell Avenue, St. Albert
Grab a towel, leash up your pup, and head to the pool - this splash party is just for them!
The Annual Grosvenor Dog Swim is back on Monday, September 2 from 12:00-2:00PM at the Outdoor Pool in St. Albert, presented by Cami Comfort Homes in support of SCARS. This event is all about community, fun, and helping out animals in need.
Your admission? A donation! Either a monetary or a pet item - all going directly to support SCARS. It’s a great excuse to let your dog run wild in the water while giving back to an amazing cause.
Some rules to note:
-Dogs must be able to enter and exit the pool on their own, or with a little help from their human at the edge of the pool.
-During the event, only dogs are allowed in the water.
-There will be no public or lane swims that day.
-Bring your own clean-up bags and be sure to scoop those poops!
-Please don’t let your dog drink from the pool - fresh water bowls will be available on-site.
Visit the City of St. Alberts website for a full list of rules.
Whether your pup is all about the cannonballs or just wants to wade and watch, this is a fun-filled afternoon with tail wags guaranteed.
Mark your calendar - this is one of those seasonal events worth barking about.
Second Chance Animal Rescue Society (SCARS)
Giving animals the second chance they deserve.
SCARS is a dedicated, Alberta-based animal rescue organization that works tirelessly to reduce the number of homeless, abandoned, and at-risk animals in Northern Alberta. They help communities by taking in pets that are unwanted or at risk of euthanasia - stepping in when others can’t.
With a mission rooted in compassion, SCARS takes in as many animals as their resources allow - and often, that’s over 400 pets in care at any given time. Each year, they successfully match more than 2,000 animals with loving homes.
Their reach extends far and wide: SCARS collects animals from remote area dog pounds, veterinary clinics acting as temporary holding shelters, and communities where animals are found sick, injured, or left behind. Each animal they rescue receives a full veterinary and behavioural assessment, along with any treatment, rehabilitation, and recovery time it needs.
SCARS strongly believes that every animal - no matter their age, condition, or past - deserves a second chance. They also believe that people deserve to live in safe, thriving communities alongside healthy, happy pets. This amazing organization is active in the community, hosting events, fundraisers, and awareness campaigns to support their mission and build stronger connections between animals and people.
